In practice

A Belgian IBAN for everyday life in euros

With CryptoIBAN, you get a Belgian IBAN in your own name, on a euro account. You fund it by converting your crypto (USDT, BTC, ETH and SOL), then pay by SEPA transfer: rent, bills, contractors, tax bills.

Your payees receive an ordinary SEPA transfer, with your name as the sender: they don’t have to accept crypto. And you don’t need to live in Belgium to open one.

Day to day

What your Belgian IBAN lets you do

Anything payable by SEPA transfer can be paid from here, without asking anyone to accept crypto.

  • Pay your rent

Set up once, the transfer goes out every month on the day you choose.

  • Pay your bills

Energy, telecoms, insurance, school fees, with your customer reference.

  • Pay your contractors

The invoice number as reference, and proof of payment you can forward.

  • Pay your tax bills

Property or local taxes, with the exact reference from the notice.

  • Keep a record

A PDF receipt for each transfer and a statement every month.

  • Convert at the right time

Deposit what you need and confirm the conversion at the quoted rate.

In your name

Your name on every transfer, not a platform’s

When you pay from your IBAN, your payee sees your name and a BE IBAN, as with any SEPA transfer. They know who is paying.

Since 9 October 2025, payment providers in the euro area check the payee’s name before every transfer (Regulation (EU) 2024/886). With an IBAN opened in your name, name and IBAN match; with a pooled account, shared by a platform’s customers, the result is generally “no match”.

And the IBAN’s country cannot be held against you: in the EU, a payee or a payer may not impose the country of the account (Regulation (EU) 260/2012, art. 9).

  • Your name as the sender, on a BE IBAN
  • Payee name checked before sending
  • Cannot be refused because of its country

Named or pooled

An IBAN in your name or a pooled account: the difference

Some crypto services have you pay from a platform’s shared IBAN. Here is what that changes.

FAQ

Your questions about the Belgian IBAN

Do I need to live in Belgium to get a Belgian IBAN?

Adults in an eligible country can create their login online. Enter your first and last name, then make an initial deposit of at least $500. Your IBAN is usable after payment confirmation.

Can my landlord in France refuse a Belgian IBAN?

Not because of its country: within the EU, a payee may not impose the country of the IBAN (Regulation 260/2012, art. 9). Refusals still happen: the European Consumer Centres Network received 4,688 complaints about it between 2021 and early 2025. If that happens, send a letter citing article 9 and, in France, report it on SignalConso.

Does a Belgian IBAN change my tax residence?

No. It depends on your situation, not on the country of your IBAN; you declare it at opening, with your tax ID number. If you are tax resident in France, you must declare this account held abroad (form 3916). We do not give tax advice.

How much does the IBAN cost?

Opening the account costs €0 and there is no subscription. You pay 1% all-in when converting your crypto into euros, and €0 per SEPA transfer. See our pricing page for details.
